Yosemite Day 2

On the shuttle. The kids are LOVIN' THIS!!! Well, some of them are. In the end, they really did love it, but there was definitely some complaining here and there.

This is Upper Yosemite Falls

A meadow in the middle of the valley close by our camp. Half Dome in the background and a bunch of deer just chillin'.

Upper & Lower Yosemite Falls

The girls were comforted by the fact that there were other people around almost all the time (it wasn't overcrowded though like a lot of people say) so there were other people to eat besides just us, should a bear stroll in for a snack.

One of Jack's many walking sticks, and Kaitlyn's walking stick. What did I tell ya. Weird. J/K. They crack me up on a daily basis.

I think this one is the Nevada Falls. It's hard to see how huge this is. The spray coming up from the bottom would swirl around as high up as the top of the falls. In the picture, you might be able to see little spots of color on the rocks at the bottom right. Those are people. We all 5 hiked up across those rocks as close as we felt like, and then Jack and Paul went up even closer. If the wind picked up at all, you'd get drenched. It was awesome!

There are these HUGE, I mean HUUUUGE granite boulders all over the place. Apparently, Yosemite is made up of the stuff. Anyway, this big guy was down a couple tents from us by the bathrooms. Kate, being the monkey she is, and needing to climb any and everything, spent a lot of her free time climbing to the top.

And coming back down.

Ahhhhh....... feel the peace and tranquility!

Give the kid a pedestal..... and he goes all super hero on ya.

We could have pet this deer. He could have cared less. But we obeyed the rules to keep the wildlife wild!

Half Dome at Sunset. This was our view from our tent cabin.

Jack taking a turn opening our "hotel door".

Chillin' in the heated lodge for breakfast, which we brought from home.

Okay, don't tell anyone, but we totally broke the rule and ate by our tents. But we did obey the rule about keeping our food at arms reach. Birds and squirrels were eyeballin' our food the entire time though, just waiting for us to drop something. Jack spilled a soda, and we all spazzed a bit, knowing the bear problem.

Our handy dandy bear locker. It was a huge pain in the booty to lock up EVERYTHING that had a scent.
