Havasupai - Day 3

On Day #2 we were POOPED! We were tired and sore and thought we'd not do anything, but we couldn't help it. We hadn't seen all the falls, so we headed down to the opposite end of the campground where Mooney Falls drops down 200 feet, and you have to scale down the 200 foot cliff face hanging onto chains and foot-holes, after squeezing down two long tunnels to make it to the bottom. We ended up exploring down the river quite a ways where there are even more smaller waterfalls. When we got back we chilled out, knowing we had to make the long 10 mile hike out very early in the morning. We tried to go to bed early, around 7:30, but we were having fun and goofing off in the tent so it took us a while to finally go to sleep.

We woke up the next morning at 3AM, packed up the rest of our stuff and headed out. It was pitch black, but we had our head lamps, and the sun came up after a while and it was nice and cold outside so we never really got hot until the last hour. It took us maybe 4 hours? to hike out? Can't remember, but it took a lot less time than our hike in. We wanted to get to the top of the hill where we had a cooler in the van full of half frozen gatorades and fixin's for sandwiches. It was SOOO YUMMY to have something other than freeze dried dinners (though they really were delicious). It was an AWESOME trip and we can't wait to go back!!
