Who said cub scouts should get all the fun? Megan came home from Activity Days holding a box filled with a block of wood and 4 little wheels and axles in it - and the race was on! So fathers began plotting and girls began designing, and four weeks later Meg and I found ourselves hard at work on our pinewood masterpiece. I experienced for the first time the inner conflict of wanting to make the perfect racing machine myself or letting Meg do the work. In the end, Meg gets credit for the wavy design, part of the carving and sanding and all of the painting (and she won best paint job too). So how did she end up? After three tie-braker races with her best friend (oh, the drama), she got a respectable 5th place. The whole thing was a total blast!
